I photograph to slow down. To hold a moment still long enough that the small, unrepeatable things — a gesture, the quality of light shifting on someone's face, the geometry of strangers in a crowd — become legible. My eye was formed in Kerala: the long coastal light, the theatrical colour of temple ritual, the dense texture of everyday life. Living in Ipswich has taught me a different discipline — the patience of grey skies, the quiet weight of northern European rooms, the way restraint can also be a kind of beauty. Between these two places I have learned that a photograph is never just a record; it is an argument for paying attention. I work across stills and motion, and I am happiest when the work I am making might one day be useful to someone learning to look.
